As promised, here is more information about our musical partnerships for King Roger.
The Apollo Chorus of Chicago is one of the United States and Chicago's oldest volunteer choral societies. Its over 120 auditioned members are men and women of all ages, races, creeds, and occupations united by a shared love of music. After the Chicago Fire, The Chorus was formed to restore civic pride. Since its founding in 1872, Apollo was intended to be an organization that brought singers from various Chicago communities together to form a single ensemble that would carry on beloved traditions while also creating new ones. The Apollo Chorus has frequently been invited to perform at music festivals and concert series throughout the Midwest with renowned orchestras and conductors. They have also appeared in Star Wars in Concert, where they performed alongside Jackie Evancho and Josh Groban.
The mission of the Lira Ensemble is to bring the best of Polish culture to American audiences. Lira is an artist-in-residence at Loyola University Chicago, where they make a significant and ongoing contribution to promoting Polish culture in the United States. They are the only professional performing arts company in the country specializing in Polish music, song, and dance. The company comprises a symphony orchestra, chamber ensembles, singers, and dancers who perform folk and popular Polish dance and music in the original language and English translation. Since its inception in 1965, the ensemble has performed across the country and in Poland. Lira has even produced nine major recordings that are sold across the country. In addition, Lira has received high praise and awards for its series of concerts performed jointly with other cultural organizations.
